Promotions

Data Science Automation (DSA) is raising the professional standards of systems integration practices to reduce client risk, and delivering the lowest total cost of ownership in automation engineering and digital transformation results without holding our client’s hostage in the process. We are pleased to announce the implementation of our growing leadership team.  In recognition of their exemplary performance and dedication to the long-term success of DSA and our customers, the following promotions were effective in February 2022.

George R. Barr has been promoted to Vice President, Strategy & Administration. A native of Pittsburgh, George studied at Grove City College and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He has been with DSA since 2018.  In his most recent role as Quality Manager, George was instrumental in creating, adopting and enforcing industry best practices applied across our enterprise, and in leading DSA’s recertification processes through the Control Systems Integrator Association (CSIA) and the Association for Advancing Automation (A3).

In his new role, George will be building teams, establishing commercial partnerships, administering our certified processes, and engaging with clients embarking on digital transformation initiatives with the resources and expertise DSA has to provide.

Timothy D. C. Nolan has been a key contributor to DSA success for over 12 years, and has been promoted to Vice President, Engineering & Innovation.  As an NI Certified LabVIEW & TestStand Architect, NI Certified LabVIEW Embedded Systems Developer, NI Certified Professional Instructor, and Project Management Professional, Tim brings a great deal of technical experience in varied fields.  He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Bioengineering.

In this expanding role, Tim will be instrumental in enforcing new & established engineering discipline throughout the organization, delivering technical excellence to automation project outcomes, and providing mentorship to our diverse engineering teams.  Tim will also be leading DSA and client initiatives in new technology adoption, digital transformation & standardization, and new product & courseware development.

Jeffery J. Scott has been promoted to Vice President, Projects & Customer Advocacy.  Jeff has held various technical and project management roles since joining DSA in 2005.  He has become an integral part of shaping DSA talent, culture, and organizational improvements.  Jeff is an NI Certified LabVIEW Architect and NI Certified Professional Instructor, and also holds credentials as a Project Management Professional and Microsoft Certified Professional.  Jeff earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

In his new role, Jeff will be responsible for building and leading effective project teams, while ensuring automation project success by applying project management discipline and effective communication practices to meet customer goals.  Key to this role, is developing project leaders and processes that will continue to provide exceptional value, enhance the customer experience, manage evolving expectations, and ensure customer success.
